We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join a dynamic Further Education College in East London on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering accurate and insightful financial information to support the college’s operations and strategic decision-making. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical skills and sector experience to make an immediate impact.
Key Responsibilities-
Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance analysis.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning.
- Support the preparation of year-end financial statements in accordance with relevant accounting standards.

Budget Management
- Work closely with department heads to monitor and manage budgets.
- Provide financial advice and support to stakeholders to ensure effective budgetary control.

Data Analysis and Insight
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Deliver insightful reporting to inform senior management decision-making.

Compliance and Governance
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and policies, including FE sector requirements.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to queries.

Process Improvement
- Identify and implement improvements in financial processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Support the development and use of financial systems, ensuring they meet organizational needs.

Qualifications:
- Fully or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).

Experience:
- Proven experience in management accounting, ideally within the Further Education or public sector.
- Strong understanding of FE funding streams and financial regulations is desirable.

- Advanced Excel and proficiency with financial systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to build effective working relationships across departments.
