Job Purpose:

The Management Accountant will be responsible for overseeing financial reporting and performance analysis to support decision-making across the business. This role is pivotal in ensuring the business operates efficiently, optimally, and within financial targets. The Management Accountant will work closely with senior management to provide timely, accurate, and actionable financial insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    • Prepare monthly management accounts, including Accruals, Prepayments and Fixed Assets Register.
    • Analyse financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for cost improvement.
    • Provide financial commentary and variance analysis to highlight key financial performance indicators.
    • Reconcile Balance sheet accounts and ensure there no discrepancies in the reports.
    • Support the preparation of annual year-end audits.
  2. Cost Control & Efficiency:
    • Analyse costs and recommend areas for cost reduction or efficiency improvements.
    • Work with department heads to monitor departmental budgets and control costs.
    • Ensure internal controls and accounting procedures are adhered to for accurate financial reporting.
  3. Management Support:
    • Provide financial insights to senior management for strategic decision-making and business planning.
    • Work closely with other departments to interpret financial data, enabling better decision-making.
    • Support the Accounts Assistant with any queries.
  4. Systems & Process Improvement:
    • Assist in the development of financial systems and processes.
    • Identify and implement improvements to existing processes for more efficient financial management.

Key Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Education:
    • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) is required.

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience in management accounting or a similar finance role.
  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., Sage, NetSuite, QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel (Intermediate level).
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting standards and regulatory requirements.
