My client is a world renown Luxury retailer.

The Management Accountant plays a pivotal role within the Finance team. In this role, you will take ownership of your responsibilities, work effectively to meet deadlines, and provide valuable support across various areas of the business. The Management Accountant is responsible for generating key financial insights to evaluate the business from both historical and forward-looking perspectives. You will manage the budgeting process, prepare monthly and annual management accounts, and oversee various ad-hoc business analyses, such as special projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the budget and revision process: support managers in creating their budgets, question any unusual or high costs, suggest potential cost-saving opportunities, consolidate global figures, and present the global budget to the CFO & CEO.
  • Prepare monthly consolidated management accounts, highlighting variances against budget and the previous year.
  • Present departmental costs each month, engage with budget holders to challenge assumptions, and identify areas for cost savings.
  • Collaborate with the local finance team to review monthly P&L reports.
  • Produce monthly management reports, including Sales, Store P&L, and P&L by channel.
  • Ensure consistency across the monthly trial balance.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and analyses, flagging significant variances.
  • Assist with the monthly and annual working capital requirements.
  • Provide margin analysis and commentary to highlight key financial trends.
  • Ensure supplier invoices are allocated to the correct account/cost centre/project.
  • Manage intercompany accounting reconciliations.
  • Support stock management and reconciliation processes.
  • Ensure compliance with financial processes across the business, continually reviewing them for efficiency improvements.
  • Contribute to special projects and cross-departmental collaborations.
  • Undertake any other ad-hoc tasks as required.

Skills and Experience:

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in management accounting, preferably within the luxury industry.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Exceptional communication skills: ability to present financial information clearly and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise and meet tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a high level of accuracy.
