Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Management Accountant to join our firm. The ideal candidate will have experience in a professional service based or consultancy environment and will play a crucial role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and providing insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. This position requires proficiency in both bookkeeping, accounting software and an understanding of financial management principles.

Duties

  • Maintain all accounting records on a day-to-day basis including bank accounts, invoicing and credit control, purchase and general ledger management.
  • Manage the invoicing
  • Manage the credit control process ensuring cash requirements are met.
  • Manage the accounts payable process and ensure timely processing of invoices and payments
  • Manage statutory reporting (VAT/PAYE etc) requirements including preparation and submission of accurate annual/quarterly statutory returns on the relevant digital platforms.
  • Oversee Payroll to ensure that all staff and HMRC are paid the correct amounts on the relevant dates.
  • Prepare and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with best practice and relevant accounting standards
  • Prepare and maintain focused, timely and accurate KPI reports in accordance with the requirements of management and the business
  • Conduct financial forecasting (including detailed cashflow), budgeting, and variance analysis to support business planning
  • Collaborate with management to enable monitoring of and to drive improvements in chargeability and recoverability on all jobs
  • Utilise QuickBooks online accounting software to streamline financial processes
  • Mentor junior finance staff when recruited, providing guidance on best practices in financial management and accounting procedures
  • Assist in the preparation of audit/statutory financial documentation and liaise with external auditors/advisors as required.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, AAT, CIMA)
  • Proven experience in financial or management accounting roles.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting software applications
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to prepare and interpret complex financial data.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in mentoring or training junior staff is an advantage.
