Cedar Recruitment are currently assisting aPublic Sector Institutewith the Recruitment of a Management Accountant to work a 12 month contract. The rate on offer is £27.72-£32.59 per hour and will be hyrbrid working, likely 2 days in the office

Main Purpose:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery of all areas of management accounting, including across the professional services directorate.

The role will involve cost management, cash flow management, variance analysis, budgeting and forecasting. The successful candidate will provide accurate financial information to support the CFO's financial strategy including support to the business areas through the Finance Business Partner team.

Main Duties:

  • Deliver management accounting services to the institute including cost management
  • Ensure that the accounting entries required are made to maintain the accuracy of management accounts
  • Manage the cash flow working closely with the Treasury management function and the Investment Manager to ensure the current balance and projected balances accurate identifying the need for intervention and escalating as necessary
  • Perform variance analysis on the month end reporting and working with finance staff in the business areas identify the underlying reasons for any unexpected differences
  • Manage and review the budget and forecast template returns,
  • Produce monthly management accounts and dashboards
  • Perform reviews and reconciliation of the accounts and ensure any accounting entries required are accurate at all times
  • Drive and deliver continuous customer service including identifying and initiating improvements to financial systems, processes, workflows, management information and management and reporting of financial opportunities and risks
  • Perform all general accounting to maintain compliance with financial regulations and in line with external audits
  • Develop the team into a high-quality management accounting function through training and development

Essential Requirements:

  • Fully qualified accountant ie. ACCA with demonstrable experience working in a similar role
  • Experience of team management
  • Experience of working in an HE institution
  • Be a capable and credible finance professional, comfortable with operating and influencing
  • Ability to generate innovative ideas whilst finding solutions to improve processes
