Management Accountant

Borough, London

Our market-leading client is looking to secure the services of a new Management Accountant. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Management Accountant is responsible for ensuring all financial transactions are posted correctly on a timely basis. The Management Accountant has the primary responsibility for producing the monthly management reports suite and providing financial information and analysis to the business as required. The Management Accountant plays a key role in supporting the Internal and External audit function.

As the Management Accountant you’ll be accountable for;

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and manage monthly accruals, prepayments, and general journal postings, ensuring accurate financial reporting
  • Internal Controls: Support and maintain a robust system of internal control to prevent errors, waste, and fraud
  • Team Oversight: Oversee AP team activities, ensuring accurate and timely recording of transactional data

Skills & experience required of the Management Accountant role:

  • A higher education qualification (e.g. Degree).
  • Almost/Newly qualified with a CCAB/CIMA accountancy qualification preferable but would consider QBE
  • Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of accounting principles, including accruals, prepayments, and general ledger processes
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to prepare balance sheet reconciliations and financial reports
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with accounting software and advanced Excel skills for financial modelling
  • Communication Skills: Effective interaction with external auditors and internal teams
  • Organizational Skills: Managing multiple tasks, including month-end processes and maintaining the chart of accounts
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Addressing discrepancies and supporting internal controls to prevent waste, errors, and fraud
  • Leadership Skills: Overseeing the AP team and ensuring accurate and timely data recording
  • Accounting Software Proficiency: Experience with software like NetSuite, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or other ERP systems for managing financial transactions
  • General Ledger Management: Expertise in maintaining and reconciling general ledger accounts
  • Financial Reporting: Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements
  • Audit Preparation: Experience in preparing audit schedules and liaising with external auditors
