About the team:

The Finance team is committed to maximising value for residents, ensuring accuracy in financial processes, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the council's financial strategy and support the annual budget-setting and planning processes.
  • Develop financial models to assess the impact of service changes and identify funding opportunities.
  • Ensure effective financial management, including budget monitoring and reporting.
  • Assist with the annual closing of accounts and liaise with auditors.
  • Provide expert financial advice and foster a high-performing, customer-focused finance service.
  • Lead and mentor staff, promoting professional development.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • A qualified CCAB or actively studying towards CCAB (preferably CIPFA), CIMA, CFA, or ACT.
  • Experience in financial reporting, closing accounts, and managing external audits.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Knowledge of local government financial issues and policies.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in financial data analysis and IT tools (e.g., MS Office, Power BI).
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing demands.
  • Experience in leading teams and managing financial processes.
