Our client, a prominent public sector organization, is seeking a fully-qualified technical accountant with significant experience in closing accounts.
Candidates must have expertise in preparing the Comprehensive Income and Expenditure Statement for the 2024/25 accounts and possess strong knowledge of VAT and CIS tax.
The role requires extensive experience in financial accounting and reconciliation, ideally within a public sector context, along with a qualification in finance or accounts.
The position offers a salary of £50,000 per annum and requires at least 5 years of relevant experience.

Our client, a distinguished entity within the public sector, is currently seeking a fully-qualified, technical accountant with considerable experience in closing accounts within the closing team. With knowledge on preparing the Comprehensive Income, and Expenditure Statement and other notes to the 2024/25 accounts. The candidate must also have excellent knowledge of VAT and CIS tax. Experience of VAT accounting in a public sector setting is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the Council's balance sheet, ensuring accurate monitoring and reconciliation of accounts.
Lead the preparation and closing of annual accounts, meeting internal and statutory deadlines.
Provide high-quality financial and technical advice on financial accounting and reporting issues.
Represent Financial Management at various internal and external boards and forums.
Design and deliver training on a broad range of financial accounting topics.
Ensure strong internal controls in financial matters, including compliance monitoring.
Compile accurate financial returns for internal and external stakeholders.
Identify and implement improvements in financial processes and system controls.

Job Requirements:

Extensive experience in financial accounting and reconciliation.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, policies, and practices.
Understanding of public sector financial frameworks, including CIPFA Codes of Practice.
Proficiency in using financial systems and software.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate complex financial information effectively.
Experience in managing and supervising financial teams.
Qualification in finance or accounts, with ongoing professional development.
