With a growing client base of affluent private clients, they now seek an experienced Private Tax Manager with specialist knowledge in trusts and estates to strengthen their private client team.
Role OverviewAs a Private Tax Manager specializing in trusts and estates, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering comprehensive tax planning and compliance services to high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, and estates. They will manage complex client relationships and provide technical leadership within the private client team.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of complex trust and estate clients, providing both compliance and advisory services
- Prepare and review trust and personal tax returns for high-value and technically complex structures
- Develop and implement tax-efficient wealth structuring and succession planning strategies
- Provide technical expertise on trust taxation, inheritance tax planning, and estate administration
- Advise on complex trust arrangements including creation, management, and winding up
- Support executors and trustees with tax compliance and planning matters
- Lead client meetings and build strong relationships with trustees, beneficiaries, and other advisors
- Identify planning opportunities and coordinate with other professionals (solicitors, investment managers)
- Mentor and develop junior team members, reviewing their work and providing technical guidance
- Stay abreast of legislative changes affecting trusts and estates taxation
- Contribute to business development initiatives and assist with proposals for new clients
- CTA, STEP, ACA, or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 5 years' experience in personal tax with substantial focus on trusts and estates
- Strong technical knowledge of trust taxation, inheritance tax, and estate planning
- Experience managing complex private client relationships
- Excellent drafting skills for technical advice and correspondence
- Proficiency with tax software and Microsoft Office suite
- Outstanding communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts clearly
- Proven ability to work to deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
- STEP qualification or working towards
- Experience with offshore trusts and international aspects of trust taxation
- Knowledge of tax issues relating to non-domiciled individuals
- Business development experience and ability to identify new opportunities
- Experience in a boutique or mid-tier practice environment
