Project Accountant | Dynamic Architecture Practice | London

The Client

Harmonic is delighted to be working with a renowned architectural practice celebrated for its design excellence and innovative approach to urban development. This international firm specializes in creating meaningful spaces that blend functionality, sustainability, and creativity, earning them a prominent position in the architecture and urban design sectors.

The practice is entering a period of growth and are forecasting 300 total projects for 2025. With a strong focus on community and design innovation, they are home to passionate professionals who thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the finance team as a Project Accountant, providing essential financial support across a diverse and dynamic portfolio of projects. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you will take ownership of the entire financial lifecycle of projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timely reporting from initiation through to completion.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong background in project accounting, particularly within the creative or design sectors, who is looking to expand their skill set and contribute to the success of high-profile projects. You'll be joining a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your expertise will directly impact the firm's growth and success.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse project performance and provide financial analysis to support key business decisions and drive project success.
  • Track and manage project costs and budgets, ensuring financial efficiency and identifying opportunities for cost-saving and value optimisation.
  • Deliver accurate and timely financial reports, ensuring transparency and alignment with business objectives to support strategic planning.
  • Review project WIP, budget variances, and assessing project profitability
  • Work closely with project leaders and senior stakeholders to communicate financial performance, ensuring alignment with project goals and business priorities.
  • Conduct variance and sensitivity analysis to identify financial risks and opportunities, providing actionable insights to optimise project outcomes.
  • Manage end-to-end project accounting process ensuring invoices are issues at various milestones
  • Lead forecasting processes and oversee capital accounting, ensuring financial projections are aligned with project milestones and business growth objectives.

What We Need to See (required):

  • 2-4 years' experience in a project accounting role.
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger, payroll, and AP/AR processes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • A genuine interest in architecture and design.

What We'd Like to See (preferred):

  • Experience in architecture, construction, engineering, or interior design.
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualifications, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in small to medium organisations.

Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 + benefits

Start Date: ASAP

Location: London

Contract: 9-month FTC
