We’re supporting a London based university to recruit a Project Finance Officer to join their team. The post holder will become part of a team that supports academics in managing the financial aspects of their research grants, focussing on all post-award activities.

Job duties:

  • Provide financial and management information to project leaders
  • Prepare claims for grants  and manage invoicing for contract research and teaching projects
  • Regularly review project activities to ensure accurate expenditure tracking and prevent overspending
  • Meet with project leads to give financial support ensuring budgets are clearly explained and understood
  • Assist with large or complex grants, offering guidance on budgets, compliance, and common start-up challenges
  • Facilitate a seamless transition from pre-award to post-award management
  • Run, export, and format Tableau reports to support decision-making

Candidate profile:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability explain accounting issues to non-financial staff
  • Confident navigating Microsoft Excel (ability to perform Pivot tables and subtotalling)
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with internal and external colleagues, at all levels

Job information:

  • Salary: £35,000 (salaries above may be considered dependent on experience)
  • Contract: until 31st July 2025 – with the potential to further extend
  • Full-time, but part-time working arrangements would be considered
  • Hybrid working: 2 days on site, 3 days working from home
