Senior Accountant (Construction Industry)

Are you a skilled accountant with over 10 years of construction-based experience? Do you have a passion for financial management and analysis within the construction industry? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

Our client, a leading company specialising in high end interior fit-out projects, we are looking for a Senior Accountant to join their team. This role will involve working closely with the Director and engaging across all operations of the business to ensure optimal financial management and support strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage all finance and accounting operations, including billing, revenue recognition, payments, payroll, and accounts payable.
  • Coordinate the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts; monitor variances and produce timely monthly financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with internal business processes, maintaining robust internal controls.
  • Maintain the debtors' ledger, reconcile customer statements, and monitor outstanding invoices.
  • Collaborate with Commercial and Construction teams to resolve any disputes over deliveries and payments.
  • Develop and implement financial policies to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, offering insights and recommendations.
  • Manage cash flow, optimizing accounts receivable and payable to maintain financial health.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify project variances and opportunities for cost-saving and revenue enhancement.
  • Track and manage financial performance against budget and forecasts.
  • Review and approve expenses for accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure timely payroll, tax processing, and other financial obligations.
Requirements:
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Accounting (ICAS/ACA/ACCA/CIMA preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction-based accountancy.
  • Extensive knowledge of Xero, including experience integrating other software.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Xero and Excel.
  • Understanding of GDPR, data protection, and regulations concerning sharing data externally.
  • Ability to adapt to changes and react swiftly to immediate needs.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
