We are seeking a Senior Business Accountant to join our client's finance team on a temporary basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a fast-paced environment, providing financial expertise and support to senior management and budget holders.
The Role
As one of three Business Accountants, you will manage two Assistant Business Accountants and provide expert financial advice. You will ensure the accuracy and completeness of monthly management reports and lead quarterly forecasting processes. With the year-end period approaching, you will also liaise with external auditors and provide necessary documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee monthly management reports, ensuring accuracy and relevance before distribution.
- Lead the quarterly forecasting process and provide financial analysis.
- Liaise with external auditors, ensuring year-end processes run smoothly.
- Establish strong working relationships with budget holders across multiple directorates.
- Provide leadership and guidance to two Assistant Business Accountants.
- Deliver high-performance financial support and excellent customer service.
Person Specification
- CCAB/CIMA qualified accountant with current membership.
- Expertise in a recognised accounting software package (ideally Open Accounts).
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards, regulations, and data protection requirements.
- Experience in producing accurate and timely management accounts across multiple departments.
- Proven track record of budget setting and forecasting.
- Demonstrable experience in leading and managing staff to achieve high performance.
- Effective involvement in year-end processes and external audits.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
- Ability to deliver financial training to non-financial managers.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise workloads, and meet deadlines under pressure.
- High attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
