Are you a seasoned Senior Accountant with aspirations to step up to a Financial Controller role? We have an exciting opportunity that could be your next career move. You will work closely with the Head of Finance and Assistant Accountant, forming a vital part of a team responsible for maintaining the firm’s accounting system and records. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information, delivering timely reports, and promoting best practices across the board.The firm you will be joining, while not one of the largest in the City, has a rich history and a cool reputation. Known for its distinguished past and prestigious clients like Winston Churchill and Abraham Lincoln, the firm has remained low-key with just one office in London. However, its business has been anything but low-key, with an impressive revenue growth over the past few years, and the expansion of its services through a supplementary business arm that offers professional management and debt solutions.In this role, you will take the lead on monthly reconciliations, providing comprehensive financial accounts to the board and detailed reports at the firm, department, and team levels. You will be responsible for reviewing key cost lines against budgets, maintaining monthly prepayments and accruals, and ensuring that balance sheet items are thoroughly reconciled. Beyond the day-to-day, you will contribute to other critical areas such as cash flow reporting and the preparation of year-end statutory accounts, liaising directly with external auditors as needed. Your strong technical knowledge will be put to good use as you handle VAT reporting, income tax payments, and partner accounts. Experience with Solicitors Accounts Rules would be a plus, aiding your interactions with the Cashiering team and ensuring compliance in all financial matters.We are looking to speak to candidates with strong academics, relevant experience within a law firm’s Accounts department, and a solid understanding of Solicitor’s Accounts Rules.
