A top US law firm are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Management Accountant to join our dynamic Accounts department. This is particularly exciting as this individual will also help mentor and guide 3 others in the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for compiling and producing detailed management accounts and budgets, with a particular focus on compensation and benefits expenses. This role involves ensuring continuous improvement in the quality of output to provide meaningful management information to various management and accounting teams.

Key Responsibilities for the Senior Management Accountant role:

  • Manage all European office compensation & benefits annual expense budget details.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts reporting.
  • Produce monthly budgetary control variance analysis.
  • Review and prepare monthly G/L analysis details.
  • Lead quarterly management accounts review meetings with departmental managers.
  • Prepare and maintain monthly payroll journal entries.
  • Oversee monthly payroll accounting and reconcile all staff benefits.
  • Ensure payroll expenses are accurately accounted for in the general ledger.
  • Oversee the recording of payroll liabilities, including taxes withheld.
  • Prepare quarterly expense forecasting.
  • Assist with UK PAYE Settlement Agreement expense analysis.
  • Prepare annual government data surveys.
  • Develop monthly expense reporting for European office managers.
  • Assist with the review and authorization of office payments.
  • Provide cover for processing new AP vendor requests.
  • Assist with the development of European office management accounts key data package.
  • Mentor and develop other Management Accountants.
  • Support the Accounting Manager with accounting projects.
  • Report to the Accounting Manager regarding all work duties and tasks.
  • Provide cover for Accounting team members during absences.
  • Liaise with the New York Accounts department as necessary.
  • Handle ad-hoc queries and reports as required.

Key Skills and Qualifications needed for the Senior Management Accountant role:

  • Degree in Accounting or similar preferred.
  • Qualified Accountant preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal or professional services accounting.
  • Experience with Elite 3E or a comparable accounting system preferred.
  • Strong understanding of UK VAT rules.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from all levels.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Excellent attention to detail and sound judgment.
  • Positive, proactive approach.
  • Capable of working in a high-paced environment.
