Service Charge Accountant

Are you a detail-focused accountant with expertise in Service Charge management and a passion for property finance? We're seeking a Service Charge Accountant to join our team and take ownership of a portfolio of assets, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in service charge processes.

What you'll do:

  • Manage service charge budgets, reconciliations, and reporting for an assigned portfolio of commercial and residential properties.
  • Build strong relationships with asset, property, and facilities managers to ensure seamless service charge integration.
  • Own capping calculations, apportionment models, and fund reconciliations, ensuring they reflect occupancy and building changes.
  • Monitor and report on expenditure accuracy, providing insights to enhance business processes and governance.
  • Advise on lease provisions, sinking/reserve funds, and interim budget requirements.
  • Drive operational efficiency by reviewing and improving processes, procedures, and reporting frameworks.

What we're looking for:

  • 2+ years' experience in Service Charge accounting or advisory roles.
  • Strong knowledge of RICS Service Charge Code and professional standards.
  • Experience with MRI Horizon or similar property management databases (preferred).
  • Familiarity with reconciliation tools like Blackline (desirable).
  • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret lease provisions.
  • A proactive mindset, with a passion for process improvement and best practices.
