We are currently recruiting for an experienced Tax Accountant for a 6 month fixed-term contract to provide specialist support to the business and ensure the European Region meets its tax reporting and compliance obligations.
Duties include;
- Build and develop effective relationships with relevant stakeholders across relevant the Tax function, wider finance team and the business.
- Support the accuracy, quality and timeliness of Regional tax reporting, working within the parameters of the regional tax governance framework.
- Recognised as a qualified tax or finance professional, who can apply professional concepts and theoretical knowledge acquired through specialised training or experience.
- Exercises independent judgement within defined parameters, and can adapt to complex business issues where in-depth analysis is required.
Job description:
- Support the accuracy and timeliness of legal entity tax reporting, compliance, and management analysis for the UK businesses.
- This includes responsibility for selected outputs related to the preparation and lodgement of relevant tax filing obligations, across nominated business units, for a broad range of taxes including:
- Corporate tax returns;
- Withholding taxes.
- Responsible for selected outputs associated with preparing and reviewing content across all Business Units relevant to other tax reporting obligations including:
- Tax accounting calculations;
- Preparation and review of tax notes within legal entity statutory accounts;
- Thin capitalisation / interest denial calculations.
- Support effective revenue authority liaison and timely and accurate delivery on information requests in relation to corporate tax compliance.
- Support the effective operation of tax systems within the region including OneSource Corporate Tax and Tax Reporting and Provision applications.
- Involvement in implementation of new legislation as it applies to the business.
- Assist with implementation of transfer pricing policies as they apply to the European business and monitoring of cross-border transactions.
- Involvement in tax planning including corporation interest restriction allocations, capital allowance claims, group relief and loss allocations.
- Support the effective operation of the company's Regional tax risk management framework including:
- Annual self-assurance exercise on Regional Tax Controls for specific business units.
- Maintaining Regional tax policies and procedures
- Support the annual exercise of reporting to HMRC on Senior Accounting Officer.
- Building relationships with key stakeholders to ensure a collaborative approach to the delivery of tax governance & compliance objectives
Candidate profile
- Broad subject matter knowledge with a focus on corporate tax accounting and compliance
- Prior experience in UK Tax and Finance and/or Accounting
- Previous experience in a tax reporting in a large and diverse listed organisation is highly regarded.
- Property development and/or construction industry experience highly regarded.
- Experience with OneSource and Oracle and/or similar tax / financial accounting system is highly regarded.
