A Top 15 Accounting firm based in Central London are seeking a Tax Disputes Assistant Manager to join their growing team.

The tax dispute resolution team specialises in assisting both internal and external clients with contentious tax disputes, whether it is a compliance visit or an investigation under Code of Practice 9 for suspected tax evasion. They advise clients on how to make voluntary disclosures to HMRC and the best route to resolve matters. Whether this be the Digital Disclosure Service options or the Contractual Disclosure Facility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise on whether HMRC have opened a valid enquiry
  • Advise on how to best respond to HMRC
  • What information should be made available and what HMRC are entitled to ask for
  • Provide strategic advice on how to communicate complex issues to HMRC
  • Amend tax computations and compute tax liabilities with failure to notify cases
  • Advise on penalty mitigation and calculations of penalties due
  • Overpayment of tax and how to claim relief
  • Contentious tax disputes
