Who You'll be Working For: International commodity merchant.

Trade Accountant - What You'll be Doing:

You will be responsible for accounting and controlling activities for the London cocoa trading desk, as well as working on finance projects & process improvements. This is an excellent opportunity to get a hands-on role and develop finance skills within a soft commodity trading Company.

Trade Accountant - Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily activities for the London cocoa trading desk, including the daily P&L, accounts payable, and cash accounting. This involves working closely with the accounting team in India, and ensuring that their work is appropriately reviewed.
  • Responsible for a rotation of month-end processes to build up commodities accounting knowledge, such as accrual calculations, intercompany reconciliations, management reporting, and certification calculations.
  • Preparation of monthly forward books and the new business P&L for physical trade activity.
  • Work with trade, shipping and origin teams to improve business processes and field their queries
  • Contribute towards cyclical finance activities and projects such as cash-flow forecasting, FX exposure management, and new system implementations.

Trade Accountant - Skills You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Minimum education of bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field, ideally within accountancy or finance
  • Experience from an audit or industry background
  • Self-Starter, enthusiastic, proactive, flexible and with a strong interest for commodity markets
  • Detail-oriented and rigorous approach to work, with a strong commitment to accuracy and quality
  • Strong numerate and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong team ethic
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • Knowledge of Navision and Cognos would be an advantage
  • Exposure working in an international organisation would be an advantage.
