A top 20 accountancy firm in East London is seeking a Semi-Senior to join their expanding Business Support department. This role is ideal for an individual with a passion for technology and a strong background in public practice. The successful candidate will have experience in delivering outsourced services and will take a lead role in managing client relationships, with the opportunity to grow within the firm.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Conduct professional accounting work for a diverse client base, applying accounting principles.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly management accounts and VAT returns using a suite of software services.
  • Assist with the preparation of annual financial statements and statutory accounts.
  • Report key performance indicators and variances, providing relevant advisory services.
  • Transition from assisting the team to taking a lead role on client accounts under the supervision of managers, directors, and partners.
  • Engage with both existing and new clients during a period of continued growth.
  • Opportunity to market services to clients and potential clients in the future.
  • Travel to client premises as necessary.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong business focus and awareness of current affairs.
  • Proven aptitude for using technology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data.
  • Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and delegate work to juniors.
  • Ability to self-review work before manager review.

  • Financial management of costs and budgets on client work.
  • Client-facing experience.
  • Good knowledge of VAT and strong UK GAAP knowledge.
  • Awareness of laws and regulations that apply to the accounting function.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Sage.
  • Experience with online accounting packages, particularly Xero, is essential.
  • Experience with Caseware Accounts Production Software is advantageous.
