Bright Side Recruitment Ltd is supporting one of the most knowledgeable and professional Chartered Certified Accountancy practices in the Streatham area in their search for an Accounts Assistant who possesses previous commercial experience of payroll, VAT, and taxation.

About the role:

With a genuine passion for assisting an exceptional array of businesses (including new business start-ups, and sole traders), this exciting opportunity will suit an individual with an appetite for numbers and a keen eye for accuracy to support the Practice in its daily operations. Here you will enjoy continuing your professional development whilst learning from and supporting a small, dedicated team of experienced Chartered Accountants. The successful candidate will help guide their clients through every aspect of payroll, taxation, VAT, and HMRC compliance.

The role is being offered on a full time, permanent basis and the hours of work are 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

The successful candidate will be undertaking the following key responsibilities:

  • Assisting with general bookkeeping and compliance work, including Self Assessments, and VAT returns
  • Processing invoices, expenses, and payments
  • Reconciling bank statements and financial transactions
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end financial procedures
  • Assisting with the preparation of financial reports and supporting documentation
  • Liaising with clients, HMRC and other external stakeholders
  • Supporting the Practice with administrative tasks as required

Core Requirements:

  • Educated to Degree level in a related subject area (e.g. Accounting, Economics, Mathematics), or similar
  • Previous experience in an accounting or finance-related role is essential
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Sage, QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Working towards an ACCA / AAT qualification is advantageous but not essential
