Our client is the UK’s leading law firm for workplace pension schemes, advising trustees, employers, providers and corporate investors. They work exclusively in the pensions and retirement savings industry.

They are now looking for an Accounts Assistant, there is currently a team of two in the accounts team that report directly to the Director of Finance. Sackers has seen steady growth over a number of years and is looking to increase the operational capacity of the team as a result.

Responsibilities

  • Dealing with daily incoming funds daily, making inter-account transfers as necessary
  • Processing supplier invoices including authorisation for payment. Preparing payments on Bankline and sending necessary documentation to those authorising the payments
  • Petty cash management and reconciliation
  • Bank reconciliations including liaising with bank on any queries/transfers/stop payment
  • Production of prebills, time and cost transfers, time write-offs/write-ups, posting
  • Utilising client billing portals to upload bills in the format required by the client
  • Supporting the department in moving towards paperless billing as standard
  • Improving the efficiency of the billing process, reducing the amount of input required by partners
  • Monitoring aged debts, following up with the client’s accounts payables team where necessary
  • Reporting back key accounts receivable metrics to the Director of Finance and partners
  • Opening and closing of client files
  • End of month balancing to Trial Balance
  • Assisting the Director of Finance with any administrative duties as necessary
  • Assisting with any general queries from partners and other members of staff
  • Managing the firm’s credit card transactions, chasing for receipts and processing payments
  • Processing expense claims

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of three years professional office experience, ideally with legal accounting knowledge
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Experience in Aderant or another legal practice management system
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Excellent organisational skills
