Accounts Assistant

Base Salary £27,000 + Great Benefits

Our client is a well-established travel company who specialise in upmarket holidays to worldwide destinations.

They are now recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join their team.

The Accounts Assistant will cover all aspects of the Purchase Ledger, covering critical parts of the Sales Ledger during peak times and covering holidays.

The Accounts Assistant will gain complete knowledge of Accounts payable cycle and gain a good overview of the full accounting cycle within a Tour Operator.

Candidates must have previous purchase ledger experience ideally gained within the travel or hospitality industry.

This role is offered on a hybrid basis.

Accounts Assistant Responsibilities:

Validating direct cost invoices - ensuring that all travel costs are validated (vendor reconciled) against the booking system, investigating discrepancies and resolution with the supplier.

Managing the booking system accrual report (Creditors Report) - ensuring that all supplier credits are taken/refunded on a timely basis and that old accruals are investigated and zeroed where appropriate.

Processing overhead invoices - ensuring that invoices are entered to the finance system on a timely basis and reconciliation to supplier statements where appropriate.

Raising supplier payments - ensuring that all payments are in accordance with validated invoices and that they are submitted for payment according to agreed credit terms.

Ensuring new bank accounts/changes to supplier bank accounts are legitimate.

Escalating 'problem' accounts to the Finance Manager as appropriate.

Accounts Assistant Experience Required:

Previous experience of purchase ledger management is essential

Good attention to detail and have experience managing supplier expectations.

Comfortable working independently but also happy to support your team colleagues when needed.

Adaptable and flexible with your approach to work, as work volumes can dictate what you will be working on from day to day.

Strong Excel, Outlook and good communication skills.

Ability to work under pressure using your initiative, prioritising workloads.

Experience working in the Travel industry is not essential but is preferable.

Base Salary circa £27,000 depending on experience
