Accounts Payable Assistant (6 month temp to perm)

Salary: £32,000 - £35,000

Location: London (3 days on site, 2 days WFH)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Payable Assistant to join a dedicated Finance team in London. This role is perfect for someone looking to develop their career in finance, with opportunities for cross-training and participation in ad hoc projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the professional management of all finances, with a specific focus on the Accounts Payable function.

What you'll do:

As an Accounts Payable Assistant, your primary role will be to support the Finance team in managing all finances, focusing specifically on the Accounts Payable function. You will be entrusted with maintaining the purchase ledger, processing payments, and assisting in implementing procurement policies. Your role will also involve owning key balance sheet accounts, maintaining the fixed asset register, and ensuring service excellence within the Finance Team. You will work collaboratively with internal teams to meet deadlines and deliver value.

  • Maintenance of the purchase ledger and payment processing
  • Assisting the Finance Manager and Assistant Accountant to implement a procurement policy and maintain tight controls on supplier spending
  • Ownership of key balance sheet accounts including all reconciliations, reporting and day-to-day management
  • Maintenance of the fixed asset register
  • Supporting the Finance Team as required to ensure service excellence is achieved
  • Meeting competing deadlines and working with internal teams to deliver value to the business

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Accounts Payable Assistant position brings a strong foundation in maths and English, backed by a minimum of six months' experience in accounts payable. Your proficiency in data entry and management, coupled with your excellent interpersonal skills, will enable you to excel in this role. Your ability to work accurately under strict deadlines within a dynamic environment will be crucial. Experience using Sage X3 would give you an edge.

  • GCSE (or equivalent) of maths and English at grade C or above
  • Minimum 1 year demonstrated accounts payable experience
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel
  • Proficiency in data entry and management
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work with a high level of accuracy and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Experience using Sage X3 would be an advantage
