With studios across London and 2025 plans for more openings - Exciting! As our client continues to grow we are looking for an experienced Assistant Accountant to spearhead our financial operations and strategy, reporting directly to the Head of Finance.

Your role as Assistant Accountant

Below is a guide to your responsibilities. The role will also offer you lots of growth and new exposures as they grow. This is perfect for rolling your sleeves up and hitting the ground running!

  • Overseeing the day-to-day financial operations of the business, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and Payroll processes.
  • Managing and reviewing purchase invoices, sales invoices, and supplier payments.
  • Preparing monthly Management Accounts and presenting key insights to senior leadership.
  • Collaborating with on-site team members to optimise revenue tracking and financial reporting.
  • Leading the preparation of monthly and quarterly forecasts and annual budgets.
  • Ensuring accurate bookkeeping and maintaining financial records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns and other statutory filings.
  • Identifying opportunities for cost-saving and process improvement across the business.
  • Producing regular financial reports, including profit and loss statements and balance sheets, for key stakeholders.
  • Supporting the Head of Finance with cash flow management, financial planning, and strategic decision-making.
  • Assisting with investor reporting as needed.
  • Business partner with the founders and other senior stakeholders

Skills required:
  • AAT, ACCA, or CIMA qualification (or equivalent) is required.
  • Proven experience in a similar, ideally in a start-up or SME.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Advanced in Excel, Google Sheets, and accounting platform Xero.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and multitask effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills and a detail-oriented approach.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with confidence in liaising with stakeholders at all levels.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to identify and drive process improvements.
