Assistant Accountant

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our finance team, providing crucial support within our organisation. This role is ideal for someone who is meticulous and efficient in managing banking processes and ensuring transactions are consistently up-to-date.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Extract bank statements daily and prepare and upload payments and receipt transactions to the finance system and appropriate databases.
  • Process monthly credit card transactions for all company credit cards, ensuring adherence to our credit card policy.
  • Regularly review outstanding purchase orders and manually finish where necessary.
  • Set up new account codes, project codes, and live project codes as required.
  • Review all VAT codes entered by the Accounts Payable team to ensure correct codes have been used for exempt supply, non-business, and reverse charge VAT purchases.
  • Develop the use of our finance system to include the use of open banking and explore future potential process improvements.
  • Assist in the training of staff, ensuring adherence to our procedures and policies.
  • Prepare and distribute the management accounts , including narrative and variance analysis, to ensure the board and management team receive accurate and reliable information.
  • Maintain complete and up-to-date balance sheet reconciliations to ensure the accounts are accurate and revenue/costs are recognised correctly.
  • Reconcile credit card receipts on a monthly basis.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • AAT Level 4 qualified or part qualified/qualified CIMA.
  • Previous experience in posting bank transactions as well as manual payments.
  • Full understanding of accruals and prepayments.
  • Understanding of the Purchase Order Process.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to establish and sustain positive relationships.
  • Highly organised, able to manage own workload and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Flexible approach and commitment to achieving results.
