Butler Rose is working with one of the largest housing associations in London and the South-East in their search for an Assistant Development Accountant to join their team. This is a Maternity cover role up till 31st May 2025 and will pay up to £26.29 per hour PAYE. Hybrid arrangements - at least three days a week in an office or in a community/site based/partnership setting. On other days, working from home may be possible, depending on the work needed and the interaction required. In the role of Assistant Development Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining project ledgers and supporting financial and commercial decision-making within the development and sales division. Responsibilities: - Oversee and manage capital reconciliations, capital accounts, and invoice processing. - Ensure correct VAT treatment and provide guidance on construction schemes. - Develop a strong understanding of design and build agreements, legal activities, and intercompany billing. - Partner with project managers to provide day-to-day financial advice and support decision-making. - Collaborate with the Treasury and Appraisal teams to drive data-informed decisions. - Adapt reporting processes and deliver meaningful financial analysis tailored to the needs of the development team. - Maintain strong working relationships across departments and with external stakeholders. Required Experience: - Actively studying towards a recognised accountancy qualification (AAT or CCAB). - Strong Excel skills and a willingness to learn D365 and Power BI. - Practical knowledge of VAT treatment in construction and experience processing invoices. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships within a team and across departments. - Analytical mindset to contribute to operational and tactical decision-making. - Ability to commit to organisational values and support team objectives.
