Assistant Accountant

  • Location: Central London (near Victoria station)
  • Job Type: Hybrid (3 days in the office, 2 days working from home)

A well-established international group of companies in the aviation, energy, property, and manufacturing markets is seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join their head office finance team. The role is based in spacious luxury offices and offers a mix of in-office and remote work, with Mondays and Fridays being work-from-home days.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Collate, prepare, and enter data into ledgers for the holding company and other London-based entities.
  • Bill group and external entities for fees and group loan interest via monthly or quarterly recharges.
  • Maintain company ledgers, including account creation, month-end/year-end processes, and currency adjustments.
  • Handle petty cash and foreign currency cashiering.
  • Assist with the payables ledger, covering for sickness and holidays, making payments, and processing supplier invoices.
  • Make non-AP payments, process bank account entries, and perform bank account reconciliations.
  • Assist with month-end intra-group ledger balancing, group reporting, and respond to enquiries from Group Finance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent IT and spreadsheet skills, with proficiency in Excel and Word.
  • Experience in Sage is advantageous.
  • Self-motivated and well-organised with the ability to liaise closely with senior managers.
  • Professional, diplomatic, and friendly but firm approach.
  • Attention to detail and respect for deadlines.
  • Previous experience in a similar role maintaining multiple company ledgers, including foreign currency transactions, is preferred.
