We are seeking a dedicated Senior Bookkeeper with a minimum of five years’ experience in a UK-based accountancy practice. This hands-on role requires a candidate who can work independently and as part of a team, focusing on bookkeeping, VAT, management accounts, and year-end accounting assignments for a diverse client base.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Manage bookkeeping tasks using QuickBooks, Xero, and Sage Line 50, as well as other client software packages on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Perform bank, cash, payroll, sales, and purchase ledger input and reconciliations.
  • Prepare and file VAT returns and possess a good understanding of VAT principles.
  • Compile periodic management accounts, including trial balances, cash flow statements, and other client-specific reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements to trial balance stage, computing accruals, prepayments, depreciation, etc.
  • Handle multiple clients’ affairs, ensuring adherence to client and statutory deadlines.
  • Prepare year-end financial statements up to trial balance for companies and unincorporated businesses.
  • Work independently and unsupervised, both in-office and at client premises.
  • Liaise with clients regularly to obtain books and records and resolve any queries or issues.
  • Provide support to team members and other departments within the firm.
  • Undertake other ad-hoc administrative tasks as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proficiency in MS Office (particularly MS Excel & MS Outlook) and bookkeeping software.
  • Proactive approach to work and meeting the requirements of the firm.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with staff and clients.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage and control own workload, adhering to deadlines with discretion.
