We have an excellent opportunity for an Undergraduate with an Actuarial, Mathematical, or Statistical/Quantitative background to undertake a placement year in our London Actuarial team. This role would be ideal for someone looking to pursue an Actuarial career after graduating.Throughout the placement you will provide analytical and actuarial support to the Travelers Syndicate Management Actuarial team assisting in delivering reserving, management information, planning and underwriting support.This role would start in the summer of 2025 and run for the 25/26 academic year.Travelers Europe currently offers flexibility to employees who wish to work on a hybrid basis in accordance with our Hybrid Work Arrangements Policy. This entails full time employees working three days a week in the office and two days at home (or pro rata for part-time employees). This policy may be changed at the Company’s discretion.

From day one you will be given real experience of life in the insurance industry, working closely with our key partners at Travelers and our clients. We will provide you with the opportunity to explore a career in Actuarial as well as gaining a broader understanding of Travelers as an organisation and the insurance industry.

Information processing, manipulation and analysis to support:

  • Quarterly reserving process

  • Monthly and quarterly uploads and checking the data warehouse uploads

  • Corporate Planning

  • Large case pricing

  • Portfolio analysis

Taking a meaningful role in the process improvement project:

  • Exposure to coding in python and SQL

  • Assisting Senior Actuarial team members in the running, production and checking of all regular reports, management information and exhibits for use in reserving and planning exercise portfolio review

  • Updating and improving documentation of existing and new processes

  • Ad-Hoc tasks to support the Actuarial department

This opportunity is open to applicants currently studying an Actuarial or Mathematical (or related) degree, who have the option to take a placement year in industry before completing their final year of study. You will have strong analytical and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and have the desire to build relationships across the business.
