The London Fire Brigade are seeking a highly organised and efficient Administrative Assistant to join their General Counsel's Department. This role involves managing both routine and unexpected tasks promptly, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring compliance with the Brigade’s policies and procedures.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Plan and organise work effectively to ensure all tasks are completed on time, reporting any potential delays to the appropriate person.
  • Stay informed about necessary information for work activities and maintain confidentiality in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Obtain resources such as stationery and equipment to meet personal and team requirements.
  • Keep up-to-date with the Brigade’s policies, especially those related to equalities, attendance, and health and safety, and follow these policies diligently.
  • Use the Brigade’s information and communication systems responsibly, adhering to the Code of Practice on Computer Use.
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with colleagues.
  • Manage communications efficiently, including taking messages, answering phone calls politely, responding to queries, and assisting visitors.
  • Maintain and update filing systems for stock control and manage the distribution of resources and documents as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an Administrative Assistant or similar role.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficient in using office software and communication systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant Brigade policies and procedures is an advantage.
