We are seeking a dedicated Data and Cover Officer for a school in East London. This role is integral to the smooth running of the school, requiring a proactive individual who can manage staff absences and attendance data, as well as pupil admissions. The successful candidate will also provide reception and general administrative support as needed. This is an immediate start position, offering a competitive hourly rate and the potential to become a permanent member of the team.

  • Work hours that support work-life balance (Monday to Friday, 07:00 - 15:00)
  • Hourly Rate: £16 - £20ph depending upon experience
Day to Day of the role:
  • Arrange supply cover for teacher/teaching assistant absences in line with the school’s procedures.
  • Liaise with Deputy Headteachers regarding daily cover requirements, notifying them of absences and cover arrangements.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for staff absence notifications and manage the cover email.
  • Prepare cover work and ensure it is ready for lessons.
  • Welcome cover staff, verify their documents, and provide them with essential school information and safeguarding guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate cover records using the cover diary and daily cover spreadsheet.
  • Administer the admissions process for students with EHC Plans, liaising with SEN sections in feeder local authorities.
  • Manage the Headteacher’s calendar to ensure consultation deadlines are met and responses are drafted for approval.
  • Assist with the transition process once student places are confirmed.
  • Provide reception cover during staff meetings, absences, and lunch breaks.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in administrative roles, preferably within an educational setting.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using office software and managing electronic records.
  • Familiarity with admissions processes and educational data management is desirable.
  • A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to safeguarding policies.
