Information Assistant - 12 month FTC with a view to the role becoming permanent for the successful candidate.

A leading global law firm has a great 12 month Fixed Term Contract with a view to the role becoming permanent for the successful candidate for a job opportunity for an Information Assistant to join their Knowledge and Learning team. The role will suit candidates who are who have recently become information/library qualified, and who are looking for experience of working in a highly professional knowledge and information team.

The role will support a broad range of tasks and activities from across the entire team, working closely and collaboratively with colleagues in the central Research & Information function, the Information Resources team, Knowledge Systems, and group-based Knowledge & Information Officers .Key job responsibilities may include:

• Support a broad range of library-related tasks, including checking in post; shelving hard copy materials; maintaining collections; and housekeeping activities.

• Work with Knowledge and Information Officers to maintain the firm’s network of practice based libraries.

• Place and process orders for hard copy items (textbooks, journals, Loose-leafs, bulk orders etc.)

• Support the processing of invoices for hard copy materials in line with the firm’s internal processes.

• Work with the R&I, Information Resources, and KM Systems teams to provide support for a wide range of ongoing and future projects.

• Support Knowledge and Information Officers to deliver a broad range of practice-specific projects.

Provide regular cover to the central Enquiries Desk, answering a broad range of legal, business, and commercial enquiries (full training and support will be provided).

• Work with stakeholders across the team to create and update intranet content and ensure pages are well designed and impactful.

• Update records on the firm’s library management system

• Create links within the library catalogue to online textbooks and other electronic materials.

• Check in loose-leaf materials and update services.

• Manage journal routings and circulations, including electronic journal distributions.

• Chase suppliers for missing updates and journal issues.

• Set up passwords for new joiners to the firm and provide help to lawyers who have password issues, liaising with suppliers as appropriate.

First rate attention to detail and good use of grammar are essential as well as having experience or interest in information and knowledge management.
