The core purpose of this post is to be the Head of History and leading teacher in the subject. This includes strategic oversight of KS3 and 4 and planning as the school grows for KS5.

The successful candidate will have line management responsibilities for one or more members of staff within this already very successful department. The post offers an opportunity for the post holder to be working towards becoming a future Head of Humanities.

Our outcomes in History are already strong and have been recognised as an area of excellence, and this position gives an appropriately ambitious candidate the opportunity to build on this success as the school grows. They will share responsibility for courses, qualifications, assessments and schemes of work within the faculty of Humanities. Having subject and curriculum knowledge so that the department has up-to-date schemes of learning and resources will be invaluable to the leadership of the History Team.

We expect our subject leaders to also actively contribute to the development of teaching, learning and assessment within their faculty. Having an understanding of what makes excellent quality of education within history (intent, implementation and impact) will be expected. The Curriculum lead will also contribute to and support the development of history design and provision across the federation.

It is expected that the successful candidate will consistently plan and deliver outstanding lessons within the department.
