Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced **Design Manager** with a strong background in **Rail and Energy Civils**, particularly within **substation design** and supporting **design management across multiple projects**. The ideal candidate will have experience in both **Rail** and **Grid** projects, with a track record of successfully delivering civil design packages in these sectors. This is a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic team on diverse, challenging projects in South West London.

Key Responsibilities:
- **Manage design packages** for various Rail and Grid projects, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery across all phases.
- Act as the central point of coordination for **substation design** requirements, ensuring all designs align with project specifications and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, engineers, and external consultants, to oversee project requirements, deliverables, and timelines.
- Conduct **design reviews** to ensure alignment with project objectives, safety standards, and client specifications.
- Provide guidance and support to design teams, addressing technical queries and challenges to ensure seamless project execution.
- **Identify risks** and proactively manage design changes, coordinating necessary adjustments to meet project milestones and budgets.
- Prepare and present regular design progress updates and reports for stakeholders.
- Ensure all designs are compliant with relevant health, safety, and environmental standards.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- **Proven experience** in design management within **Rail and Energy Civils**, specifically with a focus on **substation** projects.
- Solid understanding of **civil design** requirements for Rail and Grid projects, including industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- **Experience managing design packages** across multiple projects, balancing time, budget, and resource constraints.
- Demonstrable knowledge of industry-specific **software and design tools**.

Preferred Qualifications:
- **Chartered status** or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field (desirable).
- Prior experience on projects within **Rail Infrastructure** and **Grid Connections** sectors.
