About the RoleThe Senior Structural Engineer will be responsible for the successful technical and commercial delivery of projects. This includes managing resources, overseeing engineering design, and fostering collaborative relationships with clients and colleagues. The role involves a mix of hands-on design, project management, and team mentorship.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform complex structural analysis and design calculations
- Guide and mentor junior engineers and technicians, promoting team development and collaboration
- Check the work of other engineers and ensure compliance with standards
- Participate in project management, including invoicing and budget oversight
- Assist with training, appraisals, and management of technical staff
- Prepare fee bids and proposals, contributing to business development
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (IStructE, ICE, or similar)
- Minimum of 3 years of substantial experience in the UK residential housing sector
- Familiarity with applicable standards and commercial awareness in a consulting environment
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build client relationships and offer advice on complex engineering matters
