Structural Engineer
London, N1

Become part of something new and exciting...
Could you be interested to become the first employee of an up and coming structural engineering practice?
Workload is currently exceptionally busy already and a no. 2 is needed! The practice has plans to grow to 5-6 staff in the next few years.
The Director is MIStructE qualified, very personable and experienced at mentoring for Chartership. He has been part of a reputable London practice for 10 years, where he was their first employee himself but has branched out to build his own brand.
The role would suit a structural engineer with a minimum of 2 years buildings design experience, keen for development and career growth, an exceptionally varied workload and involvement in all aspects of projects. You would be given the flexibility and autonomy that can only come with working for a small practice.
The firm was set up earlier this year and currently rents office space within one of their lovely clients offices so there is a team of people to talk to. There will be future plans to rent their own office when the firm is big enough.
This role would suit a driven candidate with excellent communication skills and a desire to take autonomy for work, get involved in all aspects of projects and play a part in the future of the company - not just do the number crunching!
The work is exceptionally varied, often architecturally led bespoke projects, generally 1m-3m in build value, and would suit a thinking engineer who enjoys fiddly problem solving and working with good architects. Current projects include new build developments, bespoke residential schemes, fancy internal staircases, a private residential house sunken into a hillside where the owner would like it column free, multi-storey new build townhouses, conversion of garages to housing which are based on some tricky ground, temporary works schemes and refurbs.
If you have drafting skills that would be useful. Excellent communication skills are essential and ideally you will be working towards Chartership.
In addition to 25 days holiday and pension scheme, there will be a very flexible work environment.
