I am currently recruiting for a consumer electronics company in London who are on the look out for a Design Manager to lead a team, building a new generation of innovative products within their engineering office.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead design studies and resolve technical or consumer-related challenges, both independently and collaboratively.

Gathers insight from professional and consumer feedback and guides the team to implement into streamlined design solutions.

Develop and mentor a high-performing team, guiding their growth and maximising their potential.

Managing recruitment in line with business growth.

Takes overall ownership of designs through conception, CAD execution, prototyping and verification, whilst consistently working at pace & successfully develops team to do the same.

Continuously evaluates and improves designs for cost-effectiveness, manufacturing improvements, increased quality and value to consumers.

Apply engineering and product design standards, such as DFMEA, DFM, tolerance stack analysis, and FAI, to deliver effective solutions.

Applies understanding & experience of high-volume manufacturing processes and materials to optimise designs.

Collaborate with U.S. and China-based teams to ensure seamless transition from concept to production.

Qualifications and Skills:

Degree in Product Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Design Engineering.

Proven experience in Mechanical/ Product Design environment.

At least 2 years experience people management experience.

Experience in the consumer goods household appliance space is desirable.

Experience with plastic manufacturing processes.

Uses SolidWorks or Creo to a high level and demonstrable experience of leading CAD reviews.

Can motivate your team to identify, solve, implement and verify technical solutions autonomously.

Can effectively manage the "hands-on" - building of prototypes, product testing in the lab, developing and reporting.
