  • Our client, a leading national contractor, is seeking a Design Manager to work on projects ranging from £20M to £100M across various sectors in London.
  • The role requires a relevant degree and at least 5 years of experience working with another main contractor on similar-sized projects.
  • The Design Manager will be responsible for managing design information, collaborating with clients and consultants, and ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and sustainable building standards.
  • This position offers a mix of site and office work, with some hybrid working options available.
  • The salary for this role is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Our client is a national top tier contractor that is winning work across the UK. In London, they have University/Education, Hospital/Healthcare, Residential and Externals projects, 20m - 100M.They have a need for a Design Manager to join their team with time split between site/office and some hybrid working. As a business they have embraced sustainability, net-zero design.

Your will:

  • Work with clients and consultants to understand and scope design solutions.
  • Work with the Preconstruction team to develop scopes of work.
  • Identify any necessary surveys and investigations.
  • Take responsibility for the management and delivery of design information in accordance with the agreed design program and deliverable schedule.
  • Monitor and oversee the appointed design consultants.
  • Design input at both preconstruction and construction stages of projects.
  • Assess, mitigate and manage risks connected with design
  • Ensuring designs and delivery meet health and safety legislation, sustainable building standards and industry codes of practice
  • Chairing design meetings, writing reports and giving presentations.
  • The production of design programs, design scopes, design responsibility matrices, appointments, schedules.
  • Record progress and reporting.
  • Attending/chair necessary meetings with internal and external stakeholders.



You will have:A relevant Degree (or equivalent).Experience working with another main contractor on projects 10M-100M.Working knowledge of statutory regulations such as Building Control and the Building Safety Act.An understanding of the principles behind Whole Life Cost, Lifecycle Carbon Assessments and other sustainability measures.
