As a Sales Engineer, you will work closely with clients, engineers, and project teams, providing technical sales support and delivering accurate quotations and proposals for Smart Building solutions. You will play a key role in analysing project specifications, identifying innovative solutions, and securing new business opportunities.
This is a hybrid role, requiring regular office attendance (Coulsdon), client visits, and time spent at the London showroom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse project specifications, technical drawings, and client requirements to produce detailed and compliant quotations.
- Develop high-level system topologies where required.
- Use Microsoft Excel and Office Suite to generate accurate pricing models.
- Ensure all estimates align with company pricing policies and profitability targets.
- Identify and mitigate risks and opportunities related to project costs.
- Manage the full sales cycle, from lead generation to closing deals.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities, using cold calling, networking, and marketing leads.
- Maintain a strong understanding of Smart Building technology, ensuring clients receive the most effective solutions.
- Negotiate pricing and secure contracts, ensuring long-term client satisfaction.
- Meet and exceed sales quotas and performance targets.
- Attend and lead client meetings, including pre-bid, mid-bid, and post-tender discussions.
- Communicate technical and commercial information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Follow up with clients to refine proposals and address any queries.
- Present solutions effectively, demonstrating value and securing long-term relationships.
- Work closely with engineering, sales, and operations teams to ensure seamless project handovers.
- Maintain accurate sales records and databases, ensuring all quotations, clarifications, and pricing schedules are well-documented.
Skills Required:
- Degree or HND in Mechanical, Electrical, or ICT Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- Previous experience in sales, estimating, cost estimating, or quantity surveying.
- Strong product knowledge in BMS, ICT, Security, or Smart Building Technology.
- Ability to create Bills of Materials (BOMs) using CISCO Commerce Website.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- ICT network design certifications (e.g. CISCO).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working within the construction or built environment sector.
