Totum Partners are working with a leading law firm to recruit a Legal Cashier on a 14-month fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. You’ll be part of a small, supportive team, helping to ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules and other regulatory requirements while maintaining accurate financial records.
The ideal Legal Cashier will be responsible for:
- Handling payments, receipts, and transfers across client and office accounts
- Supporting adherence to SARs and related regulations
- Carrying out daily bank reconciliations and account reviews
- Running reports to ensure ongoing SRA compliance
- Preparing forecasts, managing funding requests, and monitoring liquidity
- Assisting with CHAPS, BACS, and international payments
- Reviewing client balances weekly and helping clear residual funds with key stakeholders
- Posting Partner payments including drawings, capital, and interest
- Supporting SAR audit processes and liaising with auditors
- Carrying out various ad hoc cashiering duties as needed
The Ideal Legal Cashier will have:
- Previous experience working as a Legal Cashier is essential
- Experience using 3E would be highly advantageous
- Finance or accounts experience in professional services
- Understanding of client/office account processes
- Detail-focused, organised, and self-driven
- Flexible, positive, and able to manage priorities
