Overview of the Role:

Pertemps is seeking a motivated and self-driven Nightly Paid Accommodation Inspection Officer to join the expanding team at the London Borough of Harrow. This temporary role offers a competitive pay rate of up to 16.19 per hour, excellent training, career development support, and 21 days of holiday (excluding Bank Holidays).

Main Purpose of a Nightly Paid Accommodation Inspection Officer:
  • Ensure that nightly paid accommodation booked by the Council is being used by the intended client.
  • Verify that the accommodation complies with property standards outlined in our policy and statutory regulations.
  • Travel extensively within and outside the borough, and occasionally outside London, as required.
  • While the role does not include line management responsibilities, it may involve assisting or training new staff at the direction of the team manager. The role also includes representing the Council at external meetings.

Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Housing Officer, including visiting clients in their homes.
  • Strong ability to effectively engage with homeless clients face-to-face.
  • Competence in inspecting individual properties to ensure compliance with agreed standards and specifying necessary works.
  • In-depth knowledge of private sector housing law, health and safety rating systems, and other relevant regulations (gas, electrics, energy efficiency).
  • Must drive and have access to a car.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging a wide range of stakeholders.
