Are you passionate about delivering high-quality financial services in the public sector? Our client is seeking a dedicated Direct Payments Financial Monitoring Officer to join their team. This role is part of the Shared Staffing Arrangement between Richmond and Wandsworth, focused on providing responsive and effective services to adults in need of support.

We are looking for someone with experience in a finance role to join our team. As we are committed to giving our residents the highest standard of service, you will have a proven 'can do' attitude, be customer focused with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You will be proficient in the using Microsoft packages including SharePoint.Experience in delivering accurate work to agreed timescales is essential as well as keeping files and information up to date.The role is varied, has complex and challenging cases but is rewarding. You will join a team of five who support each other, share ideas and learning.Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.- Commitment to maintaining and improving the quality of services provided- Experience of analysing information and reconciling accounts- Finance experience- Able to use standard IT packages (Microsoft Office) to a high standard- Good oral and written skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Input and maintain accurate data in the social care information system, ensuring timely payments for Direct Payment services.
  • Provide project support for Direct Payment systems and processes.
  • Scrutinise financial information and manage bank details for service users, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Process regular payment cycles to guarantee service users receive their funds promptly.
  • Conduct financial monitoring of Direct Payment prepaid accounts, auditing bank statements, and resolving queries.
  • Analyse financial data to assess risks, identify safeguarding issues, and report any misuse or fraud.
  • Support debt recovery efforts and negotiate repayment terms with service users.
  • Collaborate with external third-party providers and internal stakeholders to streamline processes and ensure effective service delivery.
  • Facilitate training and induction sessions for colleagues to enhance understanding of Direct Payment processes.

  • Proven experience in financial monitoring and budget management.
