Our client a leading law firm with a diverse range of clients, including FTSE and AIM companies. The firm specialises in commercial disputes of a global nature. They are looking to recruit a Senior Legal Cashier to join their Finance team. The successful candidate will have previous legal experience and have experience in office and client cashiering and accounts payable.
Responsibilities
- Processing a weekly payment run, in line with the terms agreed with suppliers and the firm’s set procedures
- Undertake the final review of staff expenses and raise a fortnightly payment run
- Check and process CHAPS, BACS, FP and international payments from office and client accounts as required. Posting of payments, receipts and transfers on Aderant.
- Prepare Bank Balances email on a daily basis to send to Equity Partners. Raising, posting and cancelling out of date cheques.
- Month end reconciliation of client and office bank postings. Month end reporting and processes, including posting of journals.
- Assist with compiling monthly and weekly budgets and projections
- Manage staff queries on time recording and expenses applications
- Assisting Revenue Controller with all aspects of billing to provide cover where needed
- Scope for being involved in various projects and testing with Aderant
- Manage client residual balances, actively checking with fee earners when funds can be returned
- Calculate and post client account interest
- Maintaining master spreadsheet showing all client balances
- Assisting the team with Conflict Checks as and when required
- Supervising the Accounts Payable Assistant, monitoring postings and providing cover where necessary
Candidate Profile
- Previous legal finance experience essential, with a robust knowledge of the SARs to ensure compliance
- Experience in both office and client accounts, as well as multi-currency cashiering
- Genuine interest in business and finance
- Experience of supervising and monitoring a team or junior team member preferred
- Adept at working independently and as part of a team
- Good knowledge of excel and Aderant
