Are you an experienced rents professional with strong Northgate system expertise? We are seeking a detail-oriented Rents Accounting Officer to join a dynamic team, supporting accurate rent account management and maximising rental income.


THE ROLE
As a Rents Accounting Officer, you will ensure the prompt and precise creation, maintenance, and termination of rent accounts, supporting effective rental income management. Key responsibilities include:

  • Setting up and amending rent accounts for various tenancy types within 5 working days.
  • Processing refunds, court costs, and financial adjustments to ensure account accuracy.
  • Managing Direct Debit payments, including daily and weekly reconciliation reports.
  • Administering the Rents Service suspense account and heating points system updates.
  • Ensuring accurate updates for Right to Buy and buyback cases in collaboration with Leasehold Services.
  • Handling resident communications related to rent accounts, including issuing refunds for credit balances.
  • Supporting service improvements through active participation in team meetings and service reviews.


THE CANDIDATE
To succeed in this role, you will have prior experience in a similar rent accounting role, along with:

  • Proven expertise in using the Northgate system for rent account management.
  • Strong knowledge of legislation and policies related to rent accounts in the social housing sector.
  • Familiarity with welfare benefits, housing benefits, and ongoing changes to welfare systems.
  • Effective communication, IT skills (Word, Excel), and numerical ability.
  • A proactive, team-oriented approach with the ability to manage sensitive situations diplomatically.

  • The pay range for the role is 27.00 per hour LTD company rate. The PAYE equivalent is 23.02 per hour, inclusive of holiday.
