Bookkeeper | Fashion & Media | Hybrid | East London

Join a rapidly growing company as their first internal finance hire, working closely with the founders to build the finance function from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity to shape processes, and support the business as it scales.

Your role will be to support with transferring their external Accountant to bring in-house.

What will I be doing?

  • Record day to day financial transactions and complete the posting process
  • Process daily sales invoices and send reports to appropriate managers
  • Check and verify source documents such as invoices and receipts
  • Maintain general ledger and reconcile entries
  • Manage and process accounts receivable/payable in a timely manner
  • Maintain and manage office administrative expenditure.
  • Maintain, verify and rectify customer balances in accounts receivable records.
  • Check and verify vendor bills before making payment advice.
  • Maintain bank deposits and check payment records.
  • Reconcile bank records with bank statements.
  • Provide accounting and administrative support to external audit teams.
  • Provide support to fellow employees through sharing of knowledge, helping to complete tasks and/or assisting in customer interactions
  • Maintains key relationships with customers and internal departments to build knowledge and understanding of customer needs and expectations
  • Prepare correspondence, presentations, reports and other special projects as and when requested.
  • Assist with research into customer issues (e.g., invoice discrepancies, credit memos, debit memos, purchase order issues)
  • Provide general administrative support for travel, trade shows, expenses, and office
  • Organise and maintain the office system (e.g., filing, order supplies, upkeep of equipment)
  • Contribute to a positive working environment (respectful, responsible and team oriented

Key skills & experience needed

  • AAT Qualified or studier or desire to complete Accountancy qualifications
  • Minimum of 3-years of relevant experience
  • Experience working with POS systems (Preferred).
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Attention to details, problem analysis, confidentiality and integrity
  • Ability to demonstrate strong customer focused service
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees
