Are you a proactive and reliable individual with a passion for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment in an educational setting? Join our team As a Caretaker and be a part of a dynamic school in Camden overseeing site maintenance, security and contractor management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • General duties include:
  • Locking/unlocking the school and ensuring site security.
  • Routine maintenance, minor repairs (light bulbs, shelves, plumbing), and grounds upkeep (grass cutting).
  • Cleaning duties, including litter, bins, toilets, and assisting with deep cleaning.
  • Porterage of heavy items like stock, furniture, and equipment.
  • Managing cleaning supplies stock.
  • Overseeing external contractors on site.
  • Supporting school policies, including safeguarding, data protection, and contributing to the trust ethos .
  • Health, Safety and Security:
  • Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation with the Premises Manager.
  • Act as first aider and fire warden.
  • Ensure security of buildings and grounds, including evening and weekend cover.
  • Maintain and update risk assessments and safety measures.
  • Follow fire safety procedures and ensure fire risk assessments are implemented.
  • Maintenance & Cleaning:
  • Perform simple repairs and maintenance to keep the site in good condition.
  • Identify and report hazards to the Premises Manager.
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintain records.
  • Ensure all equipment is functional during academy hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Dispose of waste in line with regulations.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience in general maintenance, minor repairs, and site upkeep.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including fire safety and first aid.
  • Strong communication skills with staff, students, and contractors.
  • Ability to manage cleaning schedules, maintenance tasks, and stock levels.
  • Familiarity with school security procedures and site access management.
  • Must have or be willing to obtain a DBS certificate on the update service.
