Driver

We are looking to recruit a Part Time, Term Time OnlyTemp Driver with a clean D1 category License (essential) and MIDAS certification (desirable, otherwise training can be given), to work ongoingly in the Southwark Area, subject to selection and compliance. The successful candidate will have an enhanced adult & child workforce DBS, with adult & child barring checks, less than 3 months old, or else this will need to be completed and clear before they can start, as the workplace is a SEND Further Education College.

The working pattern is 24hrs per week, term time only (36 working weeks per year), Mon-Thurs 9.00am – 3.30pm with a 30mins unpaid lunch break.

Job DescriptionReports to: Head of Estates & FacilitiesPurpose of the Post

To drive the minibus and transport staff and learners to access community venues in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Highway Code and in accordance with other appropriate legislation whilst ensuring staff, learner and public safety.

Functional Links

The driver is expected to liaise with allied professionals. These will include:•    Students and their carers•    College staff•    Public•    Staff from other venues

Duties and Responsibilities

Please note, this does not itemise all tasks but gives the scope of the post responsibilities.

•    Driving the college minibus as required. This may involve working flexible hours•    Ensuring the college vehicles are cleaned, serviceable, roadworthy and safe at all times•    Ensuring all legal and statutory requirements are met, such as insurance and road tax•    Ensuring the vehicles are fuelled and checked before each journey•    Ensuring all mechanical equipment is inspected prior to each use, cleaned and topped up with oil as necessary and serviced•    Maintaining a log of journeys•    Supporting the Site Supervisor  in other general duties where necessary, such as traffic flow management at the College, from time-to-time•    Reporting any accident, dangerous occurrence or practice, or threat to Health and Safety, immediately to the Head of Estates & Facilities or Senior Premises Officer and writing it in the Incident Book•    Ensure that all working practices comply with current College policies, including the College Equality and Diversity•    Ensuring that all duties carried out comply with the Health and Safety at Work Act, Risk Assessments and any relevant national codes of practice•    Maintaining positive relationships with students, staff and visitors •    Logging, investigating and acting on any complaint about security, repairs and maintenance•    Attending training as required•    Undertaking such other duties of a similar nature from time to time as may be required by the PrincipalIf you are interested please do apply!
