Venn Group is working with a London-based Local Authority to recruit an Interim Business Analyst to support a variety of impactful digital and technology projects. This role is a critical part of transforming the council’s digital services to ensure enhanced user experience, efficiency improvements, and robust data-driven decision-making processes.

Responsibilities of the Interim Business Analyst

  • Manage and oversee business analysis activities across digital projects, including mapping and re-designing business processes, user and market research, and facilitation of workshops
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to identify, develop, and evaluate digital solutions, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and effective project delivery
  • Develop and communicate project business cases, investment appraisals, and options analyses to support informed decision-making
  • Utilise a combination of Agile and Waterfall methodologies to deliver comprehensive solutions tailored to project needs
  • Conduct user journey mapping, requirements gathering, and translate findings into actionable user stories, customer journeys, and acceptance criteria
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with internal and external partners, ensuring successful collaboration on digital transformation initiatives
  • Champion the use of emerging technologies, including AI, to enhance service delivery, process automation, and customer experience improvements

Essential Qualifications for the Interim Business Analyst

  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst or User Researcher, with a strong background in various analysis tools and methodologies
  • In-depth experience in Agile and Waterfall project delivery methods
  • Demonstrable expertise in gathering, analysing, and documenting business and user requirements, and creating effective user journeys, process maps, and wireframes
  • Experience developing detailed business cases and conducting options analysis
  • Strong knowledge of digital services, emerging technologies, and trends, including AI
  • Effective stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience facilitating workshops and leading collaborative discussions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a proven ability to influence stakeholders at all levels

Desirable Qualifications

  • Extensive experience working as a Business Analyst or User Researcher across both public and private sectors
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications including MS Project and MS Visio
  • Background in digital, data, and technology transformation within local government or large multi-layered service organisations
  • Formal training or significant experience in Business Analysis, User Research, Systems Thinking, or Lean practices
