An exciting opportunity to join an established industry-driven research network team to support WTW’s efforts to be the best risk advisors for clients and to shape the “WTW view of risk”, through the application of risk management thinking, and an ongoing analysis of future trends.This is fixed term parental leave cover, reporting to the Head of Emerging risks, to support our growing client-facing advisory work.Created in 2006, the WTW Research Network (WRN) is an award-winning collaboration which supports and influences science to improve the understanding and quantification of risk, with the aim of improving the resilience of our clients and society as a whole.Our growing, multi-national WRN team is made up of enthusiastic, dynamic and team-oriented individuals with natural hazards, economics, spatial analytics, statistical, project management and marketing backgrounds, with teams in London, New York and Denmark. Working closely with colleagues across WTW, we create innovative long-term research partnerships with universities, research centres and private companies across the world to focus on risks and the application of the latest scientific findings that are of interest to our clients.Our broad research programme covers a comprehensive range of risks including various natural hazards relating to weather extremes, climate variability and trends, seismic and volcanic perils, technology change, people, geopolitical and emerging risks.The WRN is now part of the new WTW Innovation & Acceleration team, a cross-segment practice whose purpose it is to propel ideas into revenue and market impact to help our business grow. This move emphasises the key role that research and modelling have for innovation and competitive advantage, and the very applied nature of our work.The Role This role is a 12 month FTC to cover parental leave, and will report to the Head of Emerging risks to deliver and coordinate structured and ongoing horizon scanning for risk trends across geographies and industries, and support scenario-based consultancy. You will work closely with: 
  • the WRN Head of Emerging risks to provide applied risk management insight on emerging risks and risk management frameworks
  • scenario design and trends analysis support our approach to emerging risks advisory services and overall WTW strategy.
  • key WTW commercial teams across key business segments to identify clients / prospects who would benefit from emerging risks and futures thinking
  • our Innovation team to identify emerging trends, and feed into the WTW innovation strategy.
  • clients to deliver scenarios and future trends analysis that are fit for purpose and support decision-making. 
Deliverables include:
  • Supporting the delivery of emerging risk surveys and workshops
  • Analysis of risks by industries
  • Implementation of risk management approaches for emerging risks
  • Horizon scanning for risk trends across geographies and industries
  • Summarise key findings 
  • Create cross-industry narrative scenarios from horizon scanning
You will actively participate in developing our WRN consultancy strategy and research opportunities and stay abreast of the latest scientific research, identify emerging issues and trends, summarize findings and potential materiality to current/future business strategy.You will be working with clients, jointly with other WTW commercial teams, on advisory projects, especially when these require leading-edge research to be applied, or expert judgement.The successful candidate will have proven experience either in research, corporate risk or the insurance industry.We fully endorse flexible working.The Requirements 
  • Client-facing experience in risk management or related discipline 
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of scenario analysis and of developing risk assessment tools
  • Proven record in foresight, academia, and interest in bridging the gap between research and industry
  • Proven experience in writing articles / blogs / commentaries on areas of relevance
  • Genuine interest and ability to adapt and learn new areas of expertise to address an evolving risk landscape
  • Understanding of enterprise risk management, foresight, qualitative and quantitative scenarios, and the practicalities of associated with modelling and implementation
  • Excellent presentation skills with experience of presenting technical information to a large audience of varied stakeholders from junior executive to CEO, using a range of media (auditoriums to webinars) or in client meetings
  • Project management and prioritization skills

  • Insurance or Risk Management domain experience
